Nolan's friends

Nolan has a lot of stuffed animals that he sleeps with. It is amazing that there is even room for him in his crib. He has to have all of them, and if he comes into our bed in the middle of the night, all of these friends also need to come.
His friends are: Snowflake, Molly, Dolly, Friskey Dog, Lion, Al E. Gator, and Cuddles. He also loves to put them on the floor on snuggle in a big pile with them.

tacos and hot dogs and lollipops

Whenever we ask Nolan what he wants for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, he responds by saying: tacos, or hot dogs, or lollipops. He does actually like all of these items, but if offered something else, he will eat it.
Here he is eating his taco just like a big boy!

snowy day

As you can tell, I am slightly behind on posting pictures.
We had a wonderful snowy day, and we were able to go sledding. I love to sled! We have a perfect spot at the end of our road where there is a retention basin. So Nolan and I bundled up and I pulled him down the street in his sled. I climbed up the hill with Nolan in one arm and the sled in the other. Nolan enjoyed it, especially the fast steep hill.
But the slide was even better than sledding. I am not sure if it was because the plastic had a coat of ice on it or if it was because Nolan's snow pants were a slippery material, but he flew down the slide. He went so fast that he actually knocked me over at the end of the slide while I caught him. Nolan was laughing so hard the whole time!

Nolan says the darndest things

Nolan has really started to say some things that make Matt and I really giggle.
Some of his favorite sayings are:
Michael pooped on the floor, Aunt Krissy cleaned it up
Mommy burn meatballs and the smoke detector goes off
Nolan needs _____ right now!!! (fill in anything in the blank)
Silly Mommy
Need check mail real quick
Miss Andrea know a coo coo song (blue's clues song)
Nolan toot on you
I love you very much honey bear
Just a little bit

two silly boys

Michael and Nolan are great pals. They love to find mischief and get into it together. One of their favorite routines here is to climb up onto the couch and do sit drops off of the couch. Of course I allow them to do this because it is my form of physical therapy. (I want to make sure they are getting plenty of gross motor input!)
They also love to share snacks. I put a snack on a kitchen chair and they run, play and eat at the same time.
Nolan loves to feed Michael snack, although Michael often turns his head and says "no." Here Nolan is bringing Michael popcorn and carefully breaking it into small bites for him.
Nolan also loves to talk about Michael and himself together. He says things like "two little nuts" and "two boys are jumping." He has even started to call him Michael Robert when he does something silly!

Silly with Playdoh

Nolan loves Playdoh! He loves the extrusion toys and the cookies cutters. He also loves to wear Playdoh on his face and ears!

swimming with Daddy

Matt has taken over swimming classes, and Nolan is really doing well. At first, Nolan didn't swim at all with Matt which was disappointing because he had been making so much progress with me. But after a few weeks, he is back to being a fish. Matt even lets him be more independent so Nolan will probably make progress much quicker!

reading

Nolan can read this book "Hello Bee" all by himself. He reads every page perfectly. Except when he is on camera, then he gets silly!

beautiful weather

We have had a few days of beautiful weather. We are lucky enough to live in walking distance of an awesome park so we can take advantage of these great days. Nolan loves to go and run up and down the ramps and go on the slides.

Singing

We have been taking music class since Nolan was about 10 months old. He loves it. He talks about Miss Andrea all the time. He tells me things like "there's Miss Andrea's car," and "Miss Andrea uses this," and "Miss Andrea does this." He talks about her every day, and sometime multiple times a day.
Because of this music class (which Nolan call moocis cass) Nolan has become quite a musician. He has been great at the instruments for a long time, and now he is a singer. He sings complete songs in his singing voice, which is usually a scream. His favorite song to sing is "Pease porridge hot." He sings this song in a funny, raspy deep voice. Just like Miss Andrea!

Nolan and the toads

Nolan woke up in the morning and said "need froggy in fish tank." I am really not sure where he comes up with these ideas, but he is constantly amazing us with his plans. I told him we could go to the fish store when Daddy got home to get a frog for the fish tank. Matt's response was "maybe Nolan would like a frog in a separate tank."
So, off we went to the pet store, and chose between a choice of 4 frogs. We ended up with fire belly toads. Nolan named them Spike and Froggy. According to him, Spike is the "dark one." Nolan looks at them at least 5 times a day, and talks about them all the time. I am very glad that he is so fascinated with them because I have to feed them crickets. This is the part I hate. But because he smiles and loves them so much, it makes it all worth it.

Helping Daddy

Nolan has become "Daddy's little helper." Anytime Matt is working on a project, big or small, Nolan is there to lend a hand. Recently, Nolan has helped Matt shovel snow and waterproof the basement. I just love these pics. They remind me so much of me helping my dad. Especially the painting picture.

snow

We've been on hiatus because our computer needed more hard drive space. But we are back.
Michael came over for some fun in the snow. Nolan enjoyed it much more this time. The first time we went out this season, he actually cried because his boots were getting dirty with snow! This time, he shoveled, rode on the sled, and ate some snow. He called it snow cookies and pretended to be cookie monster.
