small spaces

Nolan has a new found interest in small cramped cozy spaces to sit in. He loves the closet, behind the grill, corners of rooms, next to the couch, and under the table. He also insists that I get myself into the small spaces with him.

cozy coupe

Nolan loves this cozy coupe! He spends quite a bit of time climbing in and out, beeping the horn, and turning the steering wheel. He doesn't even move the car and still thinks it is great. When he gets himself situated, he waves bye bye and then leans out of the window for a kiss!

little Nittany Lions

We had a play date with Chase, and the boys had so much fun together. Chase is especially social, while Nolan takes a little while to warm up. Chase is also a smile machine, while Nolan is a bit more reserved. It is really great to watch them interact and pay attention to each other. The imitate each other while playing and seem to watch what the other is doing.
After we walked to lunch, we stopped at the playground where we had a lot of fun on the swings and hunting for cats. Nolan loves to hunt for cats in any wooded areas. It doesn't matter where we go, if there are more than 5 trees he insists there are cats close by. He also feels the same way about any body of water. Whether it is a puddle, lake or pool, he insists there are frogs inside. One more animal he is always hunting in the ever elusive dinosaur. Here in Horsham they seem to reside in sewers. So at every sewer we must duck down and spot the dinosaurs.

monkey boy

Nolan is really a monkey. His newest feat is to climb up on a chair, onto the table, across the table and then into his booster seat. I am not sure where he came up with this plan because I can assure you that neither Matt or I climb on the table. He also loves to climb on the couch and through the kitchen service window onto the kitchen counter.
In this picture he climbed onto the table to get the phone. Nolan loves talking on the phone to Daddy. Most mornings, the first thing he requests in "Dada phone." He hasn't mastered the talking part yet, but likes to answer "yes" to every question Daddy asks.

at the playground

We went to see a concert in Doylestown and then made a stop at the playground. Nolan loves to climb and gets better at the equipment every day. He can climb up the slide, climb up a rope ladder, and now he rides the spinner thing. I am not sure what the technical name is, but it makes you very dizzy. I don't care for it at all, but I was nominated by Nolan to ride it with him.

Elmwood Park Zoo

We spent the morning at the Elmwood Park Zoo. It is the perfect size zoo for Nolan! He loved it. He was able to spot the animals and get closer to the exhibits. His favorite part was feeding the goats. He giggled the whole time and kept asking for more. We also fed the ducks, and Nolan quacked to them.

our morning routine

Nolan is coming down then steps during our morning routine. We start by feeding the pets. Nolan can now feed the dogs and cat with a little assistance. He loves both jobs and likes to watch them eat after he feeds them. Then after feeding we walk outside to water the plants and scoop the poop. Nolan loves to use the hose and water the flowers. I am the one who gets the great job of pooper scooper.

Mr. Persistent

Nolan is a very persistent little guy. He likes to follow his routines and complete tasks over and over again.
Nolan loves opening this pipe in front of our house. Every time we walk out front he signs open open open. We have only once seen anything exciting happen when we open it. (Matt had just flushed the toilet) But Nolan loves it just the same. The second exciting thing happened when I took this picture. We heard our echoes! Nolan was fascinated by this. I am positive this pipe will be even more enticing now.

Dada

Nolan loves to talk about his Daddy! All day long he signs and says Dada. Whenever he sees a soda can, a car, a glass of milk or iced tea he says "Dada" in the sweetest little high pitched voice. This is a nice contrast to the crying voice that is usually used to call Mama.
Nolan also likes to walk to the front door in anticipation of Matt's arrival and say "Dada." So here we are waiting for Matt and signing Dada on the front step.

shoes

Nolan has a new interest in trying on shoes. He loves to try to walk around in my flip flops and Matt's Crocs. Neither work very well and he has gotten his leg stuck in the thong of my flip flop on a few occasions. Aunt Krissy's shoes were perfect for Nolan! He got them on and them clomped around like a tap dancer.

Nolan's baby

Nolan has a new baby that he seems to like. She used to sit on my chair and Nolan would hug and kiss her occasionally. Then he started sharing his drinks with her. Now he likes to carry her around and has been hugging her at night. Some nights he even asks for her by signing "baby".

Happy 1st Birthday Michael

Nolan had a lot of fun at Michael's first birthday party. He loved the moon bounce and running around with all the kids.
It was a pretty big party and Nolan mistook another woman for his Grandmom. He spotted a woman (from behind) wearing white pants and a pink shirt like Grandmom was wearing that day and walked right up to her to talk. When she turned around he was very shocked!

all wet

Nolan never sits in his swimming pool. But when he was fully clothed, the puddle on the sandbox cover was irresistible.

a little man

People are always telling me that Nolan looks like a little man. I am not sure if it is because I part his hair to the side or because he has a leaner face. But here he definitely looks like a little man in this cute outfit from Suzi and Jimmy.
We were waiting to meet Chase and Christina for lunch at Red Robin. Nolan was crawling all over the bench and signing to the host. He would start at one end of the bench and run toward me and take a diving leap into my lap. Then he would give me tons of kisses and snuggles. What a little love bug he is!

Chincoteague

What a fun vacation we had! I am not even sure I can sum it all up here, but the highlights were:
digging in the sand
the island creamery
going shelling
feeding the seagulls
climbing on the bunk bed (Nolan can climb the ladder by himself)
swimming in the ocean
wading in the bay
watching the crabs on the beach
spending a lot of time with my family
