the play mat and a size 2 diaper
Bryce is just starting to tolerate being down in the exercise mat for a few minutes. He swats at the toys and flashes his smile for Mommy and Nolan. We sit and eat breakfast on the floor next to Bryce while he tries out the exercise mat.
Bryce also started wearing a size 2 diaper on July 5th. The size one diapers were much too small, and the size 2 isn't even that big. We will use this box and then be moving up to a size 3. I can't even believe that is possible!

July 4th
We had a very low key and awesome July 4th celebration at home.
First Kristen came to visit and Nolan loved her. He showed her all of his tricks and she joined right in playing with him. /he kept calling her "aunt Kristen Stokes"
Later that evening Grandmom came over for dinner and a small fireworks show. Matt loves doing fireworks, so this was his 2nd one. He put on an even more exciting fireworks exhibition on July 3rd at the Porco annual party. Bryce slept through the majority of our celebration. However, he was awake long enough to give Grandmom his first real smile! Nolan liked the fireworks but not the smoke that went with them.

Ocean City Maryland
We went to the beach for a week and had a fabulous vacation.
Nolan loved the ocean so we took him out to swim a few times. He was unsure of the sand at first, but after one day was ready to let us bury his whole body. Nolan also loved the boardwalk and playing the carnival games like Daddy Nolan won his own prize on an adult game!
Nolan was so excited to getr to the ocean because he is always on the look out for it when we are driving. When he sees a big forrest in the distance, he always says "look I see the ocean"
We tried the rides. Nolan wants to ride them with Matt or I, but doesn't like them when he gets on. During the ride he says "I want it to stop now" He tired sitting on a kiddie ride by himself, but got off before the ride started.
Bryce spent his time sleeping under the umbrella. The breeze and sand didn't bother him at all. Bryce also started wearing 6 month clothing. I can't believe how big he is.

still trying to catch that smile
The Hokey Pokey
Nolan loves to dance the hokey pokey. He plays the song on our "kitty piano" and then dances along. He is very good at finding the song for himself on the piano. He has to push a button that has about 20 songs on it. He can recognize the hokey pokey in the first few notes of the song. Then he stands up and boogies.
Of course he didn't do it for the camera!

Happy 1 Month Birthday, Bryce!
Wow, already one month! In a lot of ways, it feels like Bryce has been with us forever. He is mostly easy going as long as he is being held. He sleeps most of the day in my arms and spends most of the night right next to me. I have also learned that Bryce hates the car. He cries for a lot of our rides. When I stop to calm him down he is sweating like crazy and mad! He actually starts to calm down when he hears the seat belt clicking open. What a smarty. Unfortunately, it only lasts for 5 minutes before he is screaming again. Nolan has been a great big brother and loves to hold Bryce and talk to him.
Bryce was not impressed with our birthday song, probably because I wasn't holding him and because it was his witching hour.
let's have a pic-a-nic
Nolan loves to have a picnic. Anytime we eat anywhere other than the table he says "that was a delicious pic-a-nic"
So today we had a picnic on the front porch (The lawn was too wet). Bryce enjoyed himself too, he slept through most of it, and then kicked his legs for a few minute while we enjoyed the breeze.
two boys in a tub
Who knew you could actually bathe two kids at once? That is quite a conquest for me because I was always afraid to bathe Nolan when he was a newborn.
This is actually a great new night time routine because it stops Bryce's crying, and it keeps Nolan entertained. Bryce seems so mellow in the bath that sometimes he will even cry when I take him out.
