The Plank
Nolan has become a master at "the plank." Just look at how strong he is. I am certain crawling is not too far away!

Pumpkins
Nolan wore his first pumpkin outfit tonight. Katie and Robby both wore this outfit before. (or at least I hope I didn't put him in a girl's outfit).
This outfit is a 6-9 month size, and it is not quite long enough on him, but it is ok for bed time.
He is really starting to be a ham in front of the camera!

Lake in Wood
IMG_0990.JPG">
We had an awesome weekend at Lake in Wood camp site in Lancaster Pa. Despite a little rain, it couldn't have been a nicer weekend. We had campfires on both nights, which is my favorite part. I was able to use my special marshmallow stick from Dad.
The campground was beautiful, and very woodsy. Mom's site was right next to ours, but you had to walk through a small section of woods to get to her.
I didn't remember how damp camping was. Our pillows even felt wet.
Nolan was perfect the whole time. He took showers every morning, followed his normal bedtime routine, and barely even cried.
The dogs were perfect too!
Next time we just need the Mabins to come along.

riding in the cart
Nolan is riding in the cart now, and he loves the view. He sits in the cart on kicks his legs smiling ear to ear. He looks all around at the merchandise and flashes his smile for everyone. Nolan is a non stop mover. The only time he is not moving is when he sleeps. Otherwise, he is jumping up and down, kicking, punching, reaching, chewing, and rolling. I think crawling is just around the corner. He doesn't even hold still when he is nursing. He kicks off of the arm of the chair and rocks back and forth, and also rubs his head!
In addition to all the movement, he is also fascniated by his surroundings. He sits forward in his car seat now so that he can look out the window. He looks out one side, studies it for a few minutes, and then looks out the other way!

Mister Mom
We are really enjoying having Matt home this September. We have been able to spend a lot of time together. Because I am working more hours than Matt, he has been doing a lot of baby care. Here is an example of how he puts Nolan down for a nap. Needless to say, Matt has also really been catching up on his sleep.

Lancaster
We went to Lancaster on September 13th to check out the outlets. Nolan sat in a high chair for the second time at the Fuddruckers. He loves sitting and looking at all of his toys and he also loves that he is at the perfect height to bite the edge of the table. Just look at the expression on his face. I love the eyebrows.
heart walk
Thank you to everyone who made a donation to the heartwalk. Matt and Nolan and I were MVPs because we raised over 500 dollars! This is the most I have ever raised. We had a great walk despite the chilly weather. Nolan took a nice nap and enjoyed looking at everything.
Here is Nolan, Matt, and Robby after the walk.
And a pic of our new jogging stroller. It is a cadillac with speakers and all!

rolling
Nolan is rolling from his back to his belly! He had been rolling from belly to back, and now he can roll both ways! I have seen him try to roll onto his belly only to get stuck by his arm. Now, he knows how to move his arms! On Sunday night/Monday morning, I found Nolan in his crib on his belly. Of course we put him to sleep on his back, so I knew he had rolled over in his crib. Since then, he has become a rolling fool. He goes from belly to back to belly about 6 times in a few minutes. He really has the routine down!
Here is the progression of his roll.
One more new trick, he is sticking out his tongue, and moving it independently of his jaw.

Happy 5 Month Birthday
Rhode Island
We went on a wonderful weekend trip to Rhode Island to visit Uncle Adam and Tobi. We had a great time at the beach, a polo tournament, and seeing the cute town of Newport. Nolan loved the beach. He liked the water on his feet, and he loved sitting in the sand. The minute he was sitting, he knew exactly what to do and starting digging. He also ate the sand...yuck.

sitting
Nolan is getting very close to sitting independently. He stays up for a short time, and then plop. He also leans very far forward. We have been practicing a lot. He loves to sit on the floor and play with his toys, which is a new interest for him. He has always loved looking at toys and batting them, but now he laughs at the pop up toys and screams at the cars. I am not sure if he is screaming because he likes them, or if he is scared. He kicks his arms and legs and squeals. And then after pushing the car for a few minutes he starts to cry. One truck is very loud, maybe this one scares him.
