noodles
I pulled these noodles out of my therapy bag, and they were an instant hit! Nolan loves them so much that he asks to play with them all day. And he knew to climb right into the noodles and start throwing them everywhere.
little monkey
Little Monkey is Nolan's new nickname. He is a nonstop mover, and now a nonstop climber too. He had been trying to get up onto the couch for about 2 weeks, and now he can do it. Not only does he climb on the couch, but he climbs into baskets, onto stools, onto tupperware containers, and into the bathtub. I am pretty sure that this new climbing trick means big trouble!
And yes, that is me in the background playing the Wii.
Taylor
We went to visit Taylor last week, and even though Nolan has met her before, this is the first time he showed a real interest in her. It was really cute to watch Nolan look at her and point to her toes. He wanted to try to kiss her and be close. And Taylor didn't mind at all. She is so pleasant and adorable.

We love spring
Nolan loves being outside in the beautiful weather. He could walk on the back porch for hours looking at birds and airplanes and grass and the dogs. He claps his hands, dances and spins in circles. He also likes to stick leaves and sticks through the fence. On Thursday we tried out the hose, and it was a real hit. Nolan splashed in the water and stomped in the puddles.

new shoes
Nolan got his first pair of real shoes. We have been holding off and letting him go barefoot and with Robeez so he could really get good at walking. But now that the weather is nice the Robeez just aren't cutting it outside.
When Nolan first tried on his shoes he was fascinated by them. He lifted his feet up very high to walk and tripped a few times. But now he seems to have it down.
bye bye baby hair
That's right, Nolan had his first haircut. I cut his hair, and it only took 4 snips. He had a little bit of longer hair on his left and right back, and a little over both ears. It was starting to curl up a little and had been sticking over his ears occasionally. He still doesn't have a lot of hair, so thankfully he still has that baby boy look.

Everybody's Park
We have the best park right down the street from our house. We have so much fun there walking around, watching the kids, and using the equipment. This time when we went, Nolan loved the slides. When we went to the park last time, Nolan had no reaction to the slides. This time, he couldn't get enough. He even rode the big slide by himself. He also tried out the tunnels. These are fun, but very hard for me to squeeze through. I think I was the only parent climbing through the tunnels.
Not only is the park fun, but the walk on the way there is an adventure. Every pebble, blade of grass, and stick needs a thorough examination complete with a sneak taste test. Nolan knows he isn't supposed to taste these things but he does anyway.
1st Birthday Celebration
Ok, so we celebrate birthdays many times in the Schanberger family. And since I am a Schanberger, we did the same for Nolan.
Here we are celebrating on the actual day at Chick Fil-A. Nolan likes the play land there. He climbs through the little tree, pats on the walls, points to the pictures of the animals and watches the other kids!
Katie, Robby, Owen and Taylor came along too!
Later that night we went for a walk. Nolan loves to walk and look at the nature. He is such an outdoorsman.

the littlest ATV
Happy 1st Birthday
Nolan is 1! I have mixed emotions about this milestone. I feel so lucky to have had a wonderful first year with such a sweet and cute little boy. At the same time I feel sad that it went so quickly. Matt summed it up pretty well when he said "this one year went so fast, just 18 more of these and he'll be in college."
We celebrated Nolan's big day on Saturday with a perfect train theme party. It was small and fun with a lot of babies!
Nolan opened two presents by himself. He meticulously picked off small pieces of wrapping paper and one by one handed them to Katie.
He was also very neat with his cake. He used one finger at a time to explore the icing. He put his tongue in and at the very end thought it was fun to put the cake on the seat of the high chair!

vacuuming
Nolan has a new hobby...vacuuming. I never thought vacuuming was so much fun, but Nolan loves it. He actually threw a mini tantrum (his first, complete with foot stomping) when I turned off his vacuum. Now we have become a vacuuming team. Nolan uses the small vacuum and I use the big one!
a lot of moving
